Airlines WTF?

So here’s another one of those things that just stumps me..

The Story:

I’ve booked a one way flight to Japan for $400 AUD on Jetstar. Which is basically a steal at nearly half the normal price of a one way ticket would cost on JAL or Qantas.

My original plan was to stay in Japan for 90 days, and then travel on to Singapore or any other Asian destination where Australian’s are granted visa’s on arrival (Korea, Thailand etc).

Needless to say that plan is no longer going to suit my needs, being that I now need to return to Australia. So naturally I start looking for a One Way flight home from Tokyo to Brisbane or the Gold Coast, and since I got a cheap flight with Jetstar to start with I thought why not try them again.

So I hit their website hit the one way radio button, select Tokyo, select Gold Coast, enter my departure date and away I go..

JPY

50,810 Yen?? Are you kidding me?? That’s around $800 AUD at current exchange rates. My flight there was half that price..

Okay so let’s check this out.. What if I had booked a return ticket to start with, in AUD??

AUD

$440.81 AUD.. That’s more like it.

Half the price.. Same flight, same day.. Departing from the same airport, arriving at the same destination, same website.. WTF?

Well, I guess I’ll just have to call the airline and see if I can get my flight changed from a one way ticket to a return ticket.

mid week..

Been a little slow on the updates, I’ve been travelling as always.. I recently spent the a few days in Sydney, doing my usual.. Dancing, shopping, dinner with friends, and of course work.

Most notably, I caught up with Saori, who’s always a lot of fun, it’s a shame I don’t get to see her as often as I would like. I made a new friend in Yulia, a Nagoya based friend of a friend, whom I will hopefully see in Japan early next year.

On the Japan front, I’ve booked my ticket and will be leaving Australia for an undisclosed period of time on the 17th of January 2009. At this stage my travels will take me to Japan, Singapore & Thailand with the possibility of visiting Korea.

On the work front, I’ve been experimenting with AdWords semi-new Content Ad Builder. So far I haven’t had great results, but it’s only a matter of time till I work out the best way to use it.

I’ve also been recording videos for a new project that we’ve been working on internally. No specifics just yet, but it’s sure to be a big deal.

QLD Bboy Champs & Lucky Break

I’ve recently run my last Bboy event in Brisbane for a while. The turn out was atrocious. 72 paying people in total. Honestly, I was embarrassed for the guys that live here full time.

The event was actually 2 events in 1. The Queensland Bboy Championship & Lucky Break 2: Double Down.

The Queensland Bboy Championship is a crew battle format, 5 vs 5, and is part of the Australian Bboy Championship series run by Break Club. Not a single crew turned up to enter the event, not 1. Planet Fresh, in their defence did want to battle, but with only 3 people. So in the end I had to scratch the event from the days festivities and move directly on to Lucky Break.

Lucky Break’s format is essentially a 4-way individual battle. 4 Bboys take up positions on the corners of the floor, with each person throwing down twice. The judges then pick two people from each battle to progress to the next round, all the way down to the final 4.

We had 24 entrants, I was looking for 32.

The event wasn’t a complete loss. I did get to spend a couple of days hanging out with DJ Mathmatics from Robotek/Look Up crew (Newcastle), Don from SKB Crew (Sydney), Rush from Fresh Sox (Sydney) and his lovely girlfriend Aliza, Trina & Wendy from D2MG (Sydney), Scott Doo Rock from ACC/Break Club, and of course Hideboo from my crew R.A.W. (Sydney)

In the end, the judges (Hideboo, Rush & Don) picked Yogi from Skill@Will was the winner.

I would of course like to thank everyone who made it to the event, and showed their support.

I would also like to thank Versastyle, Maria, Bianca and my brother Daniel for helping run the event out through the day, and Kid Titan (Paul) for helping me to drive the interstate guests around.

Ever had one of those days where…

marktoon_man_pulling_hair_out Your interrupted every 10 – 15 minutes with a small, but equally annoying task from a co-worker or client?? Yeah??

Today is one of those days.. I’ve accomplished ZERO today!! Absolutely nothing!!!

  • I walked in to take phone calls from clients who couldn’t work out date fields..
  • Had to blot ink from the ink well in a cheap disposable printer. DAMN YOU CANON!
  • Recorded the same screen capture 5 times, and it’s still not right, simply because of interruptions half way through each one!

I figure I’ll go home about 3pm and get some real work done..

Air Jordan Melo M5

So, I’m a bit of a sucker for Jordan Sneakers, I own a few pairs of Jordan 3′s, 5′s, & 8′s, well about 25 pairs to be exact. No a lot in the grand scheme of the shoe game, but enough to keep 15 pairs in boxes, and never wear them out.

Lately I haven’t really been felling a lot of the Jordan release, simply because most of them are mash-up’s (AJF Series), where I prefer the original or at least the retro+ versions.

That was until I saw the Melo M5.

I’m definitely going cop this shoe when it drops later in the month.

Bboying in Brisbane

So, I’m currently living in Brisbane, after a 4 year hiatus. It’s safe to say that I loath living here.

As a bboying city, it’s a proverbial dead end. It is true that I started bboying in this city back in 1999/2000, but, and it’s a big BUT, I feel that I have learnt as much as I can as a bboy living here in Brisbane.

I just don’t feel the same urge to push the boundaries of my dancing, or my understanding of what bboying is. Maybe Brisbane is too much of a saftey?

Maybe it’s just that dancers in Brisbane don’t understand the essence of the dance?

I’m just not sure.

But I can tell you one thing for certain, I definitely feel that I learnt more as a dancer in my travels, and the time I’ve spent living in other cities then I ever did living in Brisbane.
